Netflix led the woke wave with titles like, “He’s Expecting” and Hannah Gadsby’s “Nanette.” Now, the streamer is helping kick woke to the curb.

The platform says goodbye to the year that was with “Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year.” “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross invited some of today’s hottest comics to let loose without any rules.

Or good taste.

The special’s highlight came early as Sam Morril and Mark Normand delivered a double dose of outrageous jokes. Taylor Swift. Jay-Z. P Diddy. Luigi Mangione. Nothing was sacred to two of the best comedians on the scene.

Tim Dillon played the ghost of slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in the special’s most tasteless routine, and that’s saying something. Clad in “A Christmas Carol”-style chains and zombie makeup, Dillon used his segment to excoriate U.S. health care.

“I’m going to hell for this, you might as well laugh,” Dillon said in his defense.

He held nothing back by attacking the system Thompson supported, shtick Michael Moore would likely cheer.

“But if you’re happy I’m dead, the joke’s on you. Most people think I’m out of the game right now because I’m rotting in Hell. Wrong. I’m working remote, and harder than ever,” he said, in character.

Too soon? Nothing is too soon at a comedy roast then … and apparently now.

NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers, featured on Netflix’s “Enigma” docu-series, took it on the chin, too.

“He’s the worst Jet to come to New York since 9/11,” Hannah Berner joked in a no-holds-barred segment that capped with a Trump assassination gag. The assembled comics even roasted the recently deceased, including Quincy Jones, Richard Simmons and O.J. Simpson.

Topping it off? A President Biden impersonator who played up the leader’s confused state.

“Who just s*** my pants?” he cracked as he left the stage.

Netflix played a sizable role in the woke culture wars. The streamer produced progressive content for the masses, including original titles like “Moxie” and TV shows brimming with far-Left messaging.

The streaming giant eventually tapped the brakes, canceling presumably woke content like shows from Meghan Markle and Ibram X. Kendi.

Netflix also stood by comedian Dave Chappelle following a relentless Cancel Culture attack tied to his Netflix 2021 special. “The Closer.”

That became a turning point for the streamer and the culture at large. Now, Netflix regularly invites rebel comedies like Chappelle, Ricky Gervais, Shane Gillis and Dillon to create exclusive specials for the platform.

The woke outrage for each new special grows smaller and smaller.
