Pauly Shore never wagged his finger at audiences and told them how to think.

Or, more importantly, vote.

The son of Comedy Store co-founder Mitzi Shore made us smile with his MTV shtick and films like “Bio-Dome” and “Son-in-Law.”

Today, at 57, Shore is looking across the Hollywood landscape with something close to melancholy. Shore and fellow ’90s standout Jamie Kennedy of “Scream” fame took a trip down memory lane, courtesy of Kennedy’s podcast, “Hate to Break It to Ya” podcast.

The comic actors explored Shore’s MTV days as the self-described “weasel,” his Comedy Store connections and how age has crept up on them.

Who can’t relate?

Shore and Kennedy also lamented how politicized Hollywood has become in the 21st century. This isn’t the ’90s anymore.

Far from it.

In recent years, Kennedy has dropped by as a guest on “Gutfeld!” The Fox News hit is part of the late-night landscape, and Shore praised Kennedy’s appearances on the show.

That came with a caveat.

“There’s no way you’re getting back into Hollywood,” Shore said about his “Gutfeld!” show ties.

“No!” Kennedy playfully said in response, adding he remains an in-demand stand-up comedian. Shore didn’t let up.

“You’re talking about comedy shows. I’m talking about getting back into the entertainment business.” Shore said.

“I’m in,” Kennedy countered.

“Yeah, independently,” Shore responded. “It’s sad.”

Shore explained that he spent years appearing on Fox programs throughout his career, much like he joined other platforms to market whatever project he had at the time.

“It was never like, ‘oh, you’re on Fox or, ‘oh, you’re on CNN,’” Shore recalled. “Now, it f***ing sucks.”

Kennedy saw a silver lining in that cultural shift, one that many, like Justine Bateman, say accelerated with the 2024 re-election of President Donald Trump.

“Don’t you think it’s more open-minded now, and it’s coming back?” Kennedy asked.

“I’m not saying that it’s not that,” Shore began, before suggesting that Kennedy’s “Gutfeld!” appearances might hurt his overall career. And Shore would think twice before appearing on the show.

Kennedy shared the exchange on X and added his two cents, suggesting how the polarization in play has hurt the industry in other ways…

We used to go on every channel and promote and no one cared what ur politics were. Will it ever go back? The echo chambers are stronger than ever. Tonite at the Golden Globes is a prime example. The town would shut down when it was on. Now I feel like half the town doesn’t even know or care they are on. Wild times. HTBITY
