Prime Day 2025 is here from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools.

As someone who is both a frequent flier and a fitness enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for good deals on headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). There are many great options out there, such as Apple’s AirPods Max (on sale right now) and the Bose QuietComfort Headphones (also at an all-time low), but my favorite are the Sony WH-1000 XM5, that have hit their lowest price ever. ($250 at Costco.) The name doesn’t roll off the tongue, but I assure you that these are among the best ANC headphones on the market right now.

It’s true that the Sony XM5 are the older model, now that the updated XM6 are available, but I’m comfortable buying slightly older tech at a much better price, as long as that tech holds up. While the Sony WH-1000 XM6 are possibly the best ANC headphones out there right now, they’re currently priced at $428. The older XM5 is on sale for $250 over at Costco and $298 on Amazon. You can try your luck with getting it price-matched if you really want to buy it off Amazon.

The Sony WH-1000 XM5 received an excellent 4.5 out of 5 review score at PCMag, which praised the headphones for their design, audio quality, noise cancellation, on-ear controls, and the companion app that lets you customize EQ and many other settings. I’ve used this pair of headphones, and I prefer its sound quality over competing products from Bose and Apple. It’s also quite light compared to the AirPods Max, but the latter does have premium metal ear cups that make it heavier. Some people may prefer those, but I like my headphones to be a little lighter and more affordable. If you offer great sound quality at a reasonable price, I’d take that over anything else. The PCMag review called out the Sony XM5 for being expensive at $400, but at $250 it starts to look like a stellar deal overall.
