Prime Day 2025 is here from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools.

The Mac mini (2024) is a truly compact desktop computer, and a perfect example of everything that’s both great and frustrating about Apple as a company. The base model of the Mac mini (16GB RAM, 256GB storage) retails for $599, and it packs quite a punch in terms of performance. It’s good enough to handle moderately heavy workloads including photo editing, and some light video editing too. There’s no Windows PC in the market that can take it on at that price.

However, once you start to upgrade the Mac mini’s RAM or storage, you’re met with Apple’s absurdly expensive upgrade pricing. Apple charges $200 to go from 16 to 24GB of RAM, and it charges $200 for a measly 256GB increment in storage. That said, if you can live with the base model, it offers incredible value for money.

Right now, you can get the Mac mini (2024) for $499 by applying the $46 coupon on Amazon. This isn’t the lowest-ever price on a Mac mini, but it’s just $20 above the all-time low. Even at the current price, this deal is worth going for if you need a compact desktop computer.

The Mac mini is so small it almost fits in your palm and takes up a negligible amount of space on your desk. In spite of its compact size, it doesn’t sacrifice performance at all. The Mac mini ships with Apple’s latest M4 chipset and consumes a fairly low amount of power. The only knock against the base model is that it ships with only 256GB of storage. Instead of upgrading internal storage, I recommend getting yourself a good deal on an external SSD and using that to store extra files.
